Chabot appears on Lincoln Ware's radio show and OTHER STUFF
Chabot will, DETERS' WON'T
Did you catch Chabot on Ware's show?
Whatcha getting for XChristmas?
Are you sick of Beck and Boehner crying?
No compassion like this in Deters' county.
***As we seek to update blog for the New Year, forgive anything "screw-ey" that you might see. We are seeking to revamp blog. As an example. CAJD's has two blogs. For some reason the pix can't be seperated--it's a long story. Will fix soon.***

Happy HoliDAYS....
Greetings Blog Readers--
Coming soon, un update to this blog. We'll be doing some stuff different in the New Year. As always, we'll keep it interesting. In the meantime there are about 300 post on this blog, going back to 2008. Check some of the post out.
Also, here's an opinion piece for you to check out, and this.
And this is pretty (curse word) up! There are no winners in this situation. Mother clearly needs mental health treatment, yet she's on lock down in the Just-US system.

Happy Birthday Beloved Drew.... City Hall today!
Today beloved Drew turns 23 years old. If Deters hadn't lied about the deal, Drew would be getting out at age 30. But because Deters lied, Drew is on paper to be released at age 40.
Yet, I'll continue to fight for Drew and and young men like Drew, who are unfairly sentenced in the criminal just-us system.
Today CAJD will be at Cincinnati City Hall @ 5:30 pm to hear Attorney Michelle Alexander speak. Alexander has a wonderful book titled The New Jim Crow - Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness.
We believe the event is open to the public. However, call to confirm.
Thank to all that read the article, than made the phone calls on Tuesday.
Thanks Blog Readers. See below for numbers and instructions on what to say.
•Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), (202) 224-3542
•Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), (202) 224-3135
These two U.S. senators are key to getting this bill passed in 2010.
MESSAGE:
I am calling to ask the senator to prioritize and support immediate Senate passage of S. 714, the National Criminal Justice Commission Act, because:
•Thousands of offenders receive lengthy mandatory terms in federal prison. These sentences have driven an increase in incarceration, stretching our prisons beyond their limits.
•The current incarceration rate comes at a high cost to taxpayers, families and communities.
•The proposed commission would review the criminal justice system, identify programs and policies that promote public safety, and urge reform of policies and practices that aren't working.
•The result will be a more effective and just criminal justice system.
•Thank you!

Did Death penalty Deters give white man the death penalty because of CAJD's
That's exactly what he did.
Once again a person becomes a victim of Deters' need to convince the public that he is a fair man. Death for all! Joe "Death penalty Deters."
Deters would never give a rich person the death penalty.
CAJD's does not condone crime, certainly don't support individuals that harm children--but why is another man's crime, a nut on Deters' semen stained resume?

Happy Monday -- PUNK
Good morning Blog readers:
The punks know who they are. They are scared to stand for something (principal-purpose-cause). They let certain people turn the water hoses on them, and beat them upside the head, and they never fight back. They are always in search of acceptance--which they will never get. That's a tough reality to face. They don't like or respect you no matter what you do. Yet, you continue to kiss their butts. While they kick you in the butt. Thump, whack. You idiot.
I'd rather die fighting than die a coward.
Think about Fox News. Think about the GOP and some Dems, think about Deters. Do you think they/he give a rat's ass if you like them? They step on your throats and you open wide while they piss in your mouth. Then you thank them.
One day you will see.

Deters wants to give White man death penalty...HMMM and NEW VIDEO
Whaaaat... Deters wants to give a white man the death penalty? Anyone else notice that this and this comes on the heels of our protest on Friday? Hmmmm.
The negative press that we are bringing is hurting Deters. Good job community. Keep up the pressure. Call Deters' office at 946.3000, and tell him that RICH people don't get the death penalty. Tell him to stop dishing out double standard justice to poor whites and people of color. CAJD does not condone crime, and certainly not for people that harm children. Yet, we believe in fair sentences. BTW, Deters has never been prosecuted for paying the prostitute in Cleveland for oral sex. Remember when Deters threatened to sue me over this truth?

Thank you Community!
The protest is over and I feel like I have passed a kidney stone. CAJD's is going to take a break until after the holidays. We'll still post stuff on this blog, but we'll post info to help make our communities stronger.
The last time we protested against Deters was in 2008.
A big thank you to the families that came out and shared their stories of injustice. In sharing our story we continue on our journey to healing.
My heart truly bleeds for one family that lost their son, brother, father, friend. My son is incarcerated, but their loved one is dead.
Also, my heart bleeds for one mother who has fought tirelessly for her incarcerated daughter.
A big thank you to TNT. What a women-sister, friend, cousin. Love you dear.
A big thank you to Lincoln Ware of 1230 am the Buzz. He let us on his show and allowed our voices be heard.
Thanks to Nathan Ive of 1230 am the Buzz, and the Wiz for reaching out to the families. I hope that he will share their stories on his program/s soon.
CAJDs has a petition that we are circulating to put term limits on the prosecutor's positon. If you'd like to sign it, please contact us via this blog.

NEXT FRIDAY - Please spread word (Dress like a Witch)
***The protest will take place on Friday October 29 at 12 noon. At Deters' office. Please see below for exact address***
Want you join us? A letter from CAJDs' founder, FBK
Dear Community:
In 2008, I founded Citizens Against Joe Deters to protest the unequal application of justice by Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters. After doing nearly two years of research CAJDs' concludes that the Prosecutor’s Office routinely seeks more serious charges and sentences against poor and minority residents compared to suspects in similar situations who are white, wealthy and well-connected.
Our webblog frequently receives emails from individuals who believe they or a family member have received a double-standard of justice from the prosecutor. Many believe they have been wrongfully convicted or sentenced unfairly. Some believe that their loved one’s trespasser has never been brought to justice.
I can relate to these stories because it was my son's story that caused my family to first become familiar with Deters’ unfairness. In 2007 my 19-year old (3rd year college student) son robbed a bank and received more time in prison than he’d been alive--20 years. It was my son’s first offense and Deters threw the book at him. He also secretly made a back door deal with my family and left out the front door.
Let me be clear CAJDs’ DOES NOT condone crime. If one does the crime, they must be prepared to do the time. My son and I absolutely accept that he must serve time in prison. However, I compare his sentence to that of other people that have committed a similar crime, and bemoan the fact that my son got about 17 years more years than others who have lengthy criminal records.
It also frustrates me that Deters has never been prosecuted for his crime of money laundering and prostitution.
On Friday October 29, 2010 at 12 noon CAJDs’ will hold a peaceful Halloween protest in front of Joe Deters' office located at 230 E. Ninth Street Cincinnati, Ohio 45202. At our protest many of us will dress in costumes and hand out candy. We will not give candy to Wealthy, Well-connected, White people. Only poor whites people and poor minorities will receive candy.
Unfair? So is double-standard sentences dished out by Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters. Clearly, there are two criminal justice systems in Hamilton County.
We invite you two come out and join us in protest. If you believe you or your loved one has been unfairly prosecuted, or that your loved one’s trespasser has never been brought to justice, please join us at the protest.
Bring poster boards signs that share their story.
At our 2008 Halloween protest, we received media coverage that helped us spread our message and desire for fairness. The more people that we can get to support the protest, the better chance we have of getting fair sentences and justice for our loved ones.
Please join us at the protest. And remember MLK said it best, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”
Best,
Franki Butler-Kidd

Prosecutor charges Avondale Bus driver with killing woman (Update)
So let's get this straight. There will be no charges filed against the cop that ran over Joann Burton in Washington Park because according to Deters' lie the OSHP ruled it an accident.
Why is it that the City prosecutor (not Deters) has charged Avondale Bus driver that got off her bus-- and it accidentally rolled over a woman?
Not sure why City and not HC prosecutor filed charges. May be location of accident.
Will follow the story closely and report back.
We won't comment until we have more facts.
And remember...
Remember we had that Halloween Party Protest in 2008. Plan to do it again in 2010.
Interesting Read.

Kathy Harrell on Ware's radio show, "Chief Tom Streicher is playing Nicey-Nice with bikers."
A big thanks to Kathy Harrell, who this blog has been tough on, for being a stand up president of the police union. The cops shooting by the biker is a very serious situation. The local media appear to be downplaying this serious matter because the cops are black. The black community is outraged that Prosecutor Deters and Cheif Streicher is playing nicey-nice when two men in blue almost died. This blog will follow this story and give you information that the local media will not. Thanks to those of you who have contacted us with your feedback.
On another note
We printed this fictitious story below (based on a true story that happened Saturday in Cincinnati) to emphasize how people of color are demonized in Cincinnati and across this country. Day in and day out people of color are portrayed as the bad guy. Everyday they have a story in the news about a black mother neglecting her child, or a black male doing something awful. Yet, it does not appear that the persecutor, the newspaper or that radio host (Joe's boy) demonize other people. We must stand up in Cincinnati. We must not allow smear campaigns to be run against people of color. Thank you to all that contacted us. Continue to submit ideas about CAJD's Halloween protest. Since Deters wants to make a fool out of our people, we will make a fool out of him. We want our protest to go viral, and to make the national news. This protest will be Better, Bigger, Bolder. Joe must Go!
***3RD UPDATE HERE***
The Enqui-liar seems to have gotten the message. Pretty sure it will be short lived though. Thanks to all of you that continue to put pressure on that paper, that allows filthy and hateful comments to post, to write better stories about people of color. We are NOT the boogy man. We to want the American Dream for our families.
Finally, thanks for having your lawyer, or a lawyer call me up. And what's up with this? I can't be stopped. Really, put a gun to my face?
***Breaking News*** ***Fictitious story***
Two black police officers shot at JD's Honky Tonk and Emporium on Saturday by members of the Iron Horsemen motorcycle gang have been released from the hospital. Cincinnati police said the black officers were immediately taken into custody because a biker gang member was killed by one of the black officers. Both officers have been fired and no investigation is needed.
The attorney for the Iron Horsemen biker gang along with Cincinnati Police Chief Tom Streicher, appeared on hate radio host WLW’s Bill Cunningham’s show, to frame the argument that members of the Iron Horsemen are good citizens, despite various members having lengthy criminal records that include trafficking cocaine, methamphetamine, and murder.
The above criminal records link has been removed by Enqui-liar paper. But that's OK we printed the story and will scan it soon. In the meantime here's the cleaned up version from the Enqui-liar.
Streicher and the attorney told Cunningham that it’s OK to assume that the dead man feared for his life when he saw uniform officers, and two black undercover officers, displaying their badges, enter the bar. Calls to the dead man, whose name has not been released pending notification to his family, were not returned.
Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters canceled a planned trip to Cleveland to purchase oral copulation, to call a press conference whereby he announced that he would seek the death penalty for black officers that shot the gang member.
We will update this story.

Where is Publicity whore Deters on this case? No outrage, name calling
If you live in Cincinnati, and I know this blog is read all over the world, (at least our friends in Cali read it), you've heard about the outlaw biker gang that was involved in the Wild Wild West shootout with the cops. One person dead.
Not a peep out of Deters. Are these bikers "animals" or "off the chart weird"? Will Deters let his children go in parts of Camp Washington? Is Camp Washigton like Jurassaic Park? Should Deters put the bikers in a cage and let them shoot each other? All of the above comments have been made by Deters when it comes to people of color, and communities of color.
Community let's arm ourselves against the likes of Joe Deters. We have to arm ourselves with knowledge because as MLK said in his famous letter from a Birmingham jail, "Injustice anywhere, is a threat to justice everywhere."
Stay connected with this blog. Start thinking up ideas for our 2010 Halloween protest against Deters.

We hope that many of you will join us. Tenative date Friday October 29, 2010 at 12 noon.
This blog has been busy lately. We've received a ton of emails. All from vicitims (including politicians) of Joe Deters. We love it! Not that you're a victim, but that many of you are trying to move from victim to victor.
Stay in touch.
Have a great weekend.

This blog has been busy lately. We've received a ton of emails. All from vicitims (including politicians) of Joe Deters. We love it! Not that you're a victim, but that many of you are trying to move from victim to victor.
Stay in touch.
Have a great weekend.

Deters victimizes 2-yr old "weed" smoker (and Hibbett case re-post)
Last week CAJD's wrote this post about Deters' littlest victims.
Deters doesn't get prosecuted for prostitution, but victimizes 2-year old.

Delaware GOP Senate primary Christine O'Donnell - Thou shall not masturbate
Why does it appear that people like Christine, and people like Joe Deters, pass judgement on everybody else, but don't want people to pass judgement on them?

Part-time Prosecutor jumps the gun on Burton case and Vigil for Jeremy
Sloppy and sad. Mrs. Burton is not even cold in her grave and Deters has already closed the book on her case. But the OSP says not so fast.
The family of Jeremy Hibbett will hold a vigil on Saturday September 11th at 7pm. The location is at the corner of Mitchell and Vine. Here' s Hibbett's story.
At this blog we have received a good amount of information on this case. We will attend the vigil. We don't stand in judgment of any parties involved with this case. But we do care that a young black male lost his life, and that a family and children are hurting. Thus, we will show our support at the vigil.
CAJD is painfully aware that young black men's lives mean nothing to Joe Deters. We believe it is the reason that Deters failed to request a full investigation in this case. Again, we don't know all the facts. So well will reserve commenting about the specifics of the case.
But we grieve for the young man's family, without standing in judgement of any person.
A great quote from one of our emails, "forgiveness is not for the ones who caused you pain, but for yourself."

Happy Friday - Another touching email...
Happy Friday Blog readers.
We get a lot of touching emails at this blog, we really do. There is so much happening in our communities and so much pain.
Many of you know that this blog was started because of CAJD's pain. When something bad happens to someone that you love, no matter if it's self-inflicted, or inflicted upon your loved one by someone else, you hurt--bad. It causes one lash out in good and bad ways.
My hope for you community, today, is that we all have peace. That instead of lashing out we turn our pain into something postive. We are not only giving that advice, we are taking it.
We love you community!
For those of you that have lost loved ones, may you be comforted.

Community I can’t sleep until you wake up - Joe Deters must Go!
It’s about 1:30 am in the morning and I can’t sleep. My heart is heavy. CAJD’s receives emails each day from people that have experienced the injustices in Hamilton County at the hands of Joe Deters. At this blog we make no secret that it was a personal situation that first brought us to fight hard to get Deters removed from office, for dishing out his brand of double standard style justice. But moving beyond our personal situation—we hear the community’s stories. We hear your cries. We want to help you. We will succeed in our goals—our mission, if we stick together. Check this blog often over the next couple of weeks. We will be providing the community with information as to what we can do to get Deters removed from office. We will never give up until we accomplish our goals.
RIP JoAnn Burton and Jeremy Hibbett. Neither of you deserved to die. We don’t know the full circumstances but we know that you did not deserve to die.
No Justice. No peace.
Rosewood.
Rise up community.

HOMELESS ADVOCATES TO PROTEST DETERS
The Greater Cincinnati Coalition for the Homeless will hold a protest at the corner of 14th and Race streets at 1:pm on September 3rd, 2010.
The advocacy group and others plan to protest against Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters who yesterday declined to prosecute a police officer that ran over a homeless woman, Joann Burton.
At the time of her death, Mrs. Burton was sleeping in Washington park when a police officer drove his cruiser in the grass. According to one eye witness, the police officer became distracted by a woman dancing, and ran over Mrs. Burton.
Deters declined to prosecute stating that the officers action was not reckless. This sparked outrage by many in the community who believe Deters uses his prosecutorial discretion often and unfairly.

Deters - Two bad decisions in two days - Community Rise up!

Cincinnati NAACP
Media Release
The Cincinnati NAACP is saddened but not surprised that Cincinnati law holds two faces; one for Whites and one for Blacks. A White woman can leave her baby in a car that results in death and it not be defined as reckless. However, a Black woman can have a dog die in her back yard and serve time in jail. This is now a new low for Cincinnati that a Cincinnati Police Officer can run over an African American woman sleeping in the grass under a tree and not be charged. Today law enforcement has released a report stating that the officer did not act reckless when he drove his police cruiser through the middle of the park on the grass and ran over an African American woman sleeping under a tree. "Citizens should not be surprised when African Americans reiterate a disrespect for the laws in Hamilton County. These decisions continue to make it difficult for the Black and White community to live in harmony in Cincinnati," Christopher Smitherman, president of the Cincinnati NAACP says.
The Cincinnati NAACP has reserved judgment until the investigation concluded. The investigation reiterates that Cincinnati law enforcement is above the law. The Cincinnati NAACP extends its deepest condolences to the Burton Family for the loss and murder of Joann Burton. "If the police officer had run over a White woman the decision today would be homicide. The officer will be restored to active duty. Cincinnati has not learned its lessons from the riots of 2001. Cincinnati has engaged in economic apartheid against African Americans in Cincinnati and now condones murder," Smitherman says.

( Cincinnati ) A Hamilton County Grand Jury has decided to ignore charges in connection with a shooting death in St. Bernard on August 3rd.
Ralph Powers shot Jeremy Hibbett to death outside Powers' home where he lived with his wife and two step-daughters. Hibbett had been harassing of the step-daughters and police had been called to the house several times.
On the night of the shooting, prosecutors say Hibbett refused to leave and as he came toward Powers, he was shot once. Powers called 911 and arriving police and medics found Hibbett dead at the scene.
Prosecutor Joe Deters said in a news release, "Ralph Powers has no criminal record and was protecting his property and family. I am sure that this was a traumatic event for everyone involved. However, a man placed in this situation should not face criminal charges. I could not agree more with the grand jury's decision."

Deters and Mandel - What a shame! CROOKS?
Mandel joins failed former Treasurer for Fundraiser
“Josh Mandel started his political career asking Tom Noe for money, so it’s no wonder he’s asking failed former Treasurer Joe Deters for cash, too. Josh hasn’t met a corrupt money manager he didn’t love,” said Ohio Democratic Party Chairman Chris Redfern.
Joe Deters resigned after multiple legal problems as Ohio Treasurer.
• Deters’ Chief of Staff was convicted of “giving preferential treatment to some investment brokers who do business with the treasurer's office.” [Dayton Daily News, 9/14/04]
• Deters’ fundraiser was convicted of election law violation for his part in a fundraising scheme for Deters – and Deters kept using the fundraiser even after his conviction. [Cincinnati Enquirer, 10/22/04]
• Deters’ campaign supporter, Frank Gruttadauria, was sentenced to four and a half years in prison on charges of bribery, racketeering, theft, money laundering, forgery, and election-law violations due to his interactions with Deters’ office and campaign. [Cincinnati Enquirer, 5/6/04]
• Deters has been criticized as a “part-time prosecutor” because he works part-time in a private law firm and part-time as Hamilton County Prosecutor. [Associated Press, 1/10/09]
“Josh’s friends are a who’s who of failed money managers and pension fund raiders. Once again, we’re reminded that Ohioans can’t afford him as Treasurer,” said Redfern.

Too Long Ignored (MUST READ)
Too Long Ignored
By BOB HERBERT (New York Times)
A tragic crisis of enormous magnitude is facing black boys and men in America.
Parental neglect, racial discrimination and an orgy of self-destructive behavior have left an extraordinary portion of the black male population in an ever-deepening pit of social and economic degradation.
The Schott Foundation for Public Education tells us in a new report that the on-time high school graduation rate for black males in 2008 was an abysmal 47 percent, and even worse in several major urban areas — for example, 28 percent in New York City.
The astronomical jobless rates for black men in inner-city neighborhoods are both mind-boggling and heartbreaking. There are many areas where virtually no one has a legitimate job.
More than 70 percent of black children are born to unwed mothers. And I’ve been hearing more and more lately from community leaders in poor areas that moms are absent for one reason or another and the children are being raised by a grandparent or some other relative — or they end up in foster care.
That the black community has not been mobilized en masse to turn this crisis around is a screaming shame. Black men, according to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, have nearly a one-third chance of being incarcerated at some point in their lives. By the time they hit their mid-30s, a solid majority of black men without a high school diploma have spent time in prison.
Homicide is the leading cause of death for young black men, with the murderous wounds in most cases inflicted by other young black men.
This is a cancer that has been allowed to metastasize for decades. Not only is it not being treated, most people don’t even want to talk about it. In virtually every facet of life in the United States, black people — and especially black boys and men — are coming up short. White families are typically five times as wealthy as black families. More than a third of all black children are growing up in poverty. In Ohio, according to the National Center for Children in Poverty, the percentage is more than half.
There are myriad reasons for this awful state of affairs. As with so many other problems in American society, a lack of gainful employment has been a huge contributor to the problems faced by blacks. Chronic unemployment is hardly a plus-factor for marriage and family stability. And the absence of strong family units with mature parental guidance is at the very root of the chaotic environment that so many black youngsters grow up in.
The abominable incarceration rates among blacks are the result of two overwhelming factors: the persistence of criminal behavior by a significant percentage of the black population, and a criminal justice system that in many respects is racially discriminatory and out of control. Both of these factors need to be engaged head-on, and both will require a staggeringly heavy lift.
Education in the broadest sense is the key to stopping this socioeconomic slide that is taking such a horrific toll in the black community. People have to understand what is happening to them before they can really do much about it. Young blacks who have taken a wrong road, or are at risk of taking a wrong road, have to be shown a feasible legitimate alternative.
The aspect of this crisis that is probably the most important and simultaneously the most difficult to recognize is that the heroic efforts needed to alleviate it will not come from the government or the wider American society. This is a job that will require a campaign on the scale of the civil rights movement, and it will have to be initiated by the black community.
Whether this is fair or not is irrelevant. There is very little sentiment in the wider population for tackling the extensive problems faced by poor and poorly educated black Americans. What is needed is a dramatic mobilization of the black community to demand justice on a wide front — think employment, education and the criminal justice system — while establishing a new set of norms, higher standards, for struggling blacks to live by.
For many, this is a fight for survival. And it is an awesomely difficult fight. But the alternative is to continue the terrible devastation that has befallen so many families and communities: the premature and often violent deaths, the inadequate preparation for an increasingly competitive workplace, the widespread failure to exercise one’s intellectual capacity, the insecurity that becomes ingrained from being so long at the bottom of the heap.
Terrible injustices have been visited on black people in the United States, but there is never a good reason to collaborate in one’s own destruction. Blacks in America have a long and proud history of overcoming hardship and injustice. It’s time to do it again.

Cincy's own Dr. Laura AKA Bill Cunningham
Well Joe Deters boy Bill the clown is back at it again. He did everything but call a caller from Avondale, the "N" word. He might as well had used that word, since he called her evey other bad word in the book. He also attacked Judge Melba Marsh, a Republican, when he put her in the same catergory as Winkler, and Nadel. The only thing that he didn't do is put his mouth on Deters' pair. But he came close with his "sucking" praise. Suck sound.
Listen to his podcast from Friday August 20th (after 1pm), no need to tortue yourself and listen to the entire program of garbage.

Why America hates and bullies black men
Why America hates and bullies black men
America hates black men. No matter if you're the most powerful man in the United States, President Obama, or an accused, not yet convicted, black suspect on the evening news--America hates you.
A black man can do no right in America. If President Obama put a piece of chewing gum in his mouth somebody would have something negative to say. And any black man that falls beneath the status of the president--God help you.
Coming to this realization that black men are hated in America is painful. Until my son found himself on the wrong end of the law, and under Joe Deters racist boot, I believed that it was, more often than not, the black man's fault when he fell face first into the criminal justice system and into America's hatred.
After all if you do the crime, you do the time. If you commit a crime and end up in jail or with a lengthy prison sentence, tough. And if you get out of jail or prison, only to discover that your real sentence has just begun because you are discriminated against in every way imaginable--employment, housing, education, denied the right to sit on a jury of your peers, tough. Think about that for a minute, Denied the right to sit on a jury of your peers. And the list of discriminations goes on forever.
But so what. Black men shouldn't sell drugs, rob people, kill people, make babies that they can’t pay for and get felonies for not paying child support, shouldn't get their license revoked for "riding dirty." I once had a friend tell me when I inquired about his drivers license, and this was his exact response, “FBK you know don’t no niggas got no L’s.” L’s being licenses. At the time I was in shock, but over the years I have discovered that there are a large percentage of black men that don’t have licenses for a variety of reasons. In some cases revoking one's license is justified, but making one jump over hell and high water to get them back is a form of hate.
Sometimes it's the black man's fault that he ends up in the criminal just-us system, but often times it's America's hate of black men that leads him there. It's also America's boot of hatred and bullying that makes it impossible for a black man to ever be totally free from the criminal justice system, also known as the black man's choke hold since one out of three young black men is currently under the control of the criminal just-us system.
Harsher laws and sentences exists for black men’s crime of choice. Yes, there are crimes that are associated with black people. And there are crimes associated with white people. If a black man had caused the housing melt down crisis, or the biggest spill in U.S. history and killed of species of wildlife, he would be hung. Hell, a black man was hung out to dry for fighting dogs.
Fact. The hate of the black man in America is so intense that they are discriminated against in every stage of the criminal justice process starting with initial stop and search, arrest and plea bargain and the sentencing phase.
Watching a local news station the other night I was bombarded with stories of one young black man after another, that were accused, not yet convicted, of some type of crime. Their stories where followed by a story about a white young soldier killed in the war and whose body was being brought home in a casket with a flag draped over it. He was a great American and a hero. He had served his country. That seems to be one message in the media. White men are patriotic and come from a military families that have made public service a legacy, black men come from broken homes, and are unpatriotic. That is a message of hate being sent out by some in the media.
Signing up and serving in the military no more makes you a great American than going inside a telephone booth makes you a telephone (do they still have telephone booths)? There are plenty of veterans that die and aren’t worth the flag that they are buried under.
Black men need to be given medals of honor for living in a country that hates them and makes them work for free. Anybody out there that truly believes that when slavery ended, black men and their families rode off into the sunset into the good life is a damn idiot. After slavery came Joe Deters and Fox news. And everything in between (Discrimination, Jim Crow, Mass incarceration).
Another way America bullies black men is with studies. Sure studies are sometimes needed. Or are they? They all seem to have the same results--bad news for the black man. For example all studies, most that I have seen, read: black men are less likely to be (you fill in the blank with anything positive) and more likely to be (you fill in the blank with anything negative). The black man can't catch a break.
There are a certain group of men that fall in the tolerated, and not pure hate, category. But those men are what Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid allegedly referred too as light skinned with no negro dialect. Guess you could toss an any complexion, and keep No Negro Dialect.
Certainly all of America doesn’t hate black men, and of course more black men need to take responsibility for their actions. And certainly there are great people that have served this country, including great black men, and certainly some of America's hate directed toward black men is directed toward other groups and poor people.
But, and this is most important, America needs to stop hatin.
(there are some really good people in America, but the bad ones, the ones that hate, you know who you are)

Deters, Winkler, Alex M. Triantafilou - BIRDS OF A FEATHER
Greetings Blog Readers:
It's been a tough last few weeks so this blog has been neglected.
CAJD encourages everyone to write letters and make phone calls to the Hamilton County Prosecutor's office. And to Judge Winkler's courtroom. Express your outrage at what happened to Christopher Bryant. Please see story below. The story will make you sick Each and everyday young men of color go to court, to jail, to prison, and the morgue. They are held accountable for their actions, and they should be held accountable. But there must be one set of rules for everybody. It's clear in Hamilton County and across this country there are two sets of rules.

"If you're white, you're alright. If you're black get back, if you're brown--get out of town." Classic Deters
What injustice looks like in Deters' courtroom for brown people

Black Babies vs. 3CDC dogs & DETERS vs. BORTZ
I will apologize to you in advance blog reader, because it seems there is never enough time on this blog to fully flesh out information that we put forth in order to enlighten the community. On this blog it is always the intention to stay focused on the highest ranking republican in Hamilton County, the Chief Legal Representative, AKA the crook that MSB'd (allegedly) on and in the prostitute in Cleveland--Joe Deters, the prosecutor, or persecutor depending on who you talk to.
On Monday June 21st Cincinnati City Council will take a vote to determine if they will give 14 million dollars to create a dog park in Washington park. This coming on the heels of their announcement to close the West End Health Clinic which serves five thousand residents. In that community, the infant mortality rate is 26.9 percent. Kill the babies for the dogs?
http://news.cincinnati.com/article/AB/20100625/NEWS01/6260359/Some-Washington-Park-neighbors-oppose-plan
It has been reported that the Ohio Ethics Commission will determine (Tuesday June 22, 2010) if Cincinnati City Council member Chris Bortz has a conflict of interest in serving on Council and being connected to his family business-- Towne properties. If the commission “officially” determines that Bortz has a conflict of interest then it's up to persecutor Joe Deters to prosecute Council member Bortz. No one can predict how the Commission will rule. However, the Commission is on record stating that Bortz being on Council and having connections with Towne Properties is a conflict of interest. If the Commission “officially“ rules in the matter against Bortz, Deters has to prosecute Bortz. Deters won’t. It has been reported on this blog, on many occasions, that Deters flat out won't prosecute the white, wealthy and well-connected. Bortz--you are free to go!
(Also, the Republican headquarters is located in a Towne property)
Who will prosecute Deters for being with the prostitute in Cleveland.
RIP LB.

Justice Delayed -- is Justice Denied (Important Information for Community)
LETTER BELOW IS FROM Paul Graham from Amos Project - Please spread the word
Greetings,
Last week, the AMOS Project launched a week of prayer and action. This is a part of our Nehemiah Campaign to Rebuild Cincinnati. The focus of last's actions is on passing the Fair Hiring Policy, which would allow city jobs to be open to people with criminal records. We started our week of prayer and action at last Wednesday's City Council meeting, where the policy was "put on the calendar," where it would be heard in committee.
Yesterday, Monday, the chair of the jobs creation committee, Charlie Winburn, claimed council needed more time to review the policy. City council has had the motion for months, and have been engaged on the problem & issue for over 2 years.
The AMOS Project and our allies, the Ohio Justice & Policy Center and the HELP Program, will move forward with our plans to attend tomorrow's City Council meeting. The message isn't one of celebration, which what was planned, but of accountability and redemption. City Council will break for one month, and this policy needs to be the first policy passed by City Council.
Can you show up tomorrow at city hall at 1:15? We will offer testimony and prayer during the citizen comment period at 1:30.
Thank you,
Paul

I just heard this information over the airwaves. For my Cincy FB people -- Community Action Agency has funding for 500 jobs, for youth between the ages of 16-24. Jobs range from labor to clerical. The deadline to apply for the jobs is this Friday June 25 2010. If you know of a young person that needs a job, get them over to CAA before Friday. The # is 513.569.1860. ACT QUICKLY. Call and if you get voicemail (you will) GET OVER THERE.

Happy Weekend Blog Readers (UPDATE)
(update: The show, mentioned below, was live. Great news though--the show will air two more times, then it will be available online.)
Tune in TODAY, Thursday 6/17 (at) 8pm.
Sister V. of the SistaHood show will host a round table of women, including myself and Sis Iris. Topics to be discussed: Black women on the forefront of activism-change-struggle in Cincinnati. We will discuss local and national politics. What our black is beautiful means to us. What we can do to stop our black communities from becoming extinct. What books we are reading, etc.
The show is live (airs on Media Bridges channel 4). We plan to bring it!

Lincoln Ware's Boner is bigger than Deters. BP Gulf Coast Spill complaint
Lincoln Ware’s bone head callers.
It’s no wonder local politicians think they can come before Lincoln Ware’s audience with a radio jingle and a smile and expect our vote. In fairness, a great many of Ware’s callers are passionate people that have the greatest love of all for their community.
Unfortunately, a hand full of the callers are bone heads with boners. They hide behind meeboo instant messages, or call in with their flawed interpretation of what they think a caller has said.
On Tuesday, I called Ware’s show to voice my concern that some media outlets were portraying the clean-up oil spill people, mostly black people, as lazy and shiftless people, who were bathing in the sun and taking excessive breaks while on the clock. I called Ware’s show to commend the workers for taking on the dangerous, low paying job of cleaning up BP’s greed. On the news they show black people cleaning up toxic brown clumps, dead wildlife (that may possiblly carry disease), and other hazardous shit.
I questioned why it is that black people, more specifically the ones that you see cleaning up the spill, have the look of people that have a tough time getting gainful employment with private companies or the government because they have barriers to employment (substance abuse or a prior conviction on their record). Nobody wants to hire them. But when it comes to jobs that could be considered modern day slavery --Gulf Coast oil spill clean-up, or here locally, cleaning up the ball parks at the rate of a cup of draft beer ($7.00), companies and the gub-ment want to hire black people first.
It bothers me that many news outlets will show the black workers on their breaks resting, as if they aren’t working. I question what the BP execs were doing when the drill blew, killing eleven people and causing the worst catastrophe in history. Were they resting? Hitting a few golf balls?
The greedy execs want to throw black people their lunch money, a pithily 13 dollars per hour. That’s an insult. An insult to the BP execs. Surely they would never eat a lunch that cost a mere 13 dollars.
Some callers, the bone heads with boners, thought that I shouldn’t complain because black people are working. Sorry bone head with your boner, all work is not good work. Especially if it comes at the expense of black people’s health and safety.

Council member Laurie Q - does not report to you!
Black people! Or does she?
Laurie Q - does not report to you Black people!
CAJD is concerned about the interview that aired on Lincoln Ware's TV show on Sunday, June 13 on Star 64, which is Channel 11 if you have Time Warner Cable.
In that interview Quinlivan appeared to be disconnected and unconcerned about issues that plague the black community. As a loud mouth - tea party -ish Rethuglican--black people are use to Ghiz antics and her voting record on policies that are anti-black people. However, blacks appear willing to give new kid on the block, Quinlivan, a chance to prove that she cares about all communities. Her interview with Ware proved otherwise.
Does Quinlivan believe that a smarter policy needs to be in place in regards to the city hiring ex-offenders that have paid their debt to society? Will she vote to support a fair hiring policy?
Does she realize that minority contracts from the city SHOULD include black people, or is she only concerned about contracts being awarded to women?
Does she believe in big business as usual? I.e. her support of streetcar?
CAJD is terribly sorry that we never have enough time to fully explore issues raised on this blog. However, we put the information out hoping that you, the community, will follow-up. Together, we can make a difference!
CAJD ask it's Blog readers to contact Quinlivan and ask her to clarify her interview with Ware.
Her Office is 346B at City Hall, 801 Plum St, 45202

Community: ARM Yourself against Joe Deters
Dear Beloved Community:
CAJD would like to jog your memory back to 2008, to a column that Joe Deters wrote in Gentleman's magazine. In that column Deters proclaims that there are parts of Cincinnati that have become so dangerous that he will not let his family members go to those areas, more specifically black areas. CAJD's does not believe people of color, or poor whites, should go to his area--the courthouse.
Prosecutor Joe Deters is the danger that danger produced. He is the worst prosecutor in the history of Hamilton County. You the community, having been presented with that fact,--I would urge people of color not to go to court in Hamilton County. Community this is serious! You must arm yourself against that hate-monger. Knowledge is power. If you are scheduled to attend court in Hamilton County, demand that your court case be transferred out of the county run by the racist. Deters is an outright racist who has no problem putting a rope on a black man's neck. Yes, it is true that Deters has engaged in a modern day lynching or two (much more). As the Chief Legal Representative of Hamilton County, Deters never fails to exercise his discretion when it comes to white folks. With wealthy white folk, especially white hookers, he is as wild and free as the night he was busted humping that hooker in that car in Cleveland.
This is the same wild man that is free to dismiss a case for any reason or no reason at all. That, my dear Blog Reader, will only apply if one is wealthy, white, or well-connected. At least two of the aforementioned should apply. Jodi Edwards baked baby Jenna Edwards in her car as she went to teach at a Christian college. Deters used his discretion and did not charge that woman. The Strutz killer cut his wife, Kristan Strutz, cousin of Commissioner Todd Portune, into pieces. Next he portion-pieced her corpse, out of the house while their children were present, in garbage bags. Deters proclaimed such an act did not warrant the death penalty. When mentally ill Anthony Kirkland, caught the little jogger, Esme Kenney, in the park with Doritos, Ipod, and fancy new watch-- he did horrific things to her, things that were so bad that Deters came out of hiding from the cushy Phen-Phen law offices, to play Top Prosecutor. With Kirkland’s conviction, Deters got another notch under his belt, and more semen on his national resume.
Deters is a very dangerous man. While his left hand may remain clutched to the prostitutes vagina, his right foot stays on the black man’s throat. He is free to file charges against a defendant if he believes the charges can be proven in court, and even if they can’t, he can still file charges so long as probable cause exist ( the practice known as overcharging a black man).
Now comes the case of Lionell Dangerfield. Dangerfield is charged with killing a baby, a twin, Zhi Merah's. Deters wants to give the black man the death penalty. CAJD does not know the circumstances behind this case. Anytime a precious baby dies, we extend our condolences. We also question why Dangerfield, a black man, face is plastered on the page of the local paper, the paper of record, with the headline: Deters- Death for baby killer. Why does Dangerfield and Kirkland get death, and Strutz gets to sit in prison for 26 years to life. And why does precious baby Jenna, who baked as if she was in a microwave, mother get to resume her life? Color? These are the questions we must asks ourselves community, when we boycott the Hamilton County courthouse. Arm yourself because your life depends on it.
CAJD’s urges the community to arm themselves against the black people’s persecutor. Don’t go to court. Don’t pass go.
ROSEWOOD.

Classic! Does Deters like it raw?!
re-post from 2008 - one of the finer post
It is not the critic who counts. Not the man who points out how the Persecutor has stumbled or where the path of his dirty deeds lead. The credit belongs to the attorney who actually told me that Deters got busted humping the hooker in the backseat of the car in Cleveland. Her face might have been marred by sweat and cum. Did he strive to protect her valiantly when they were busted by the cop. He who errs and continues to come up short again and again. Who knows the great devotions; who spends themselves a worthy cause. Who, at the best, knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with timid souls who know never see defeat. I have done my part. I have fought long and hard. And not just for my son. It has always been the needs of the people that I have placed first and foremost. Knowledge is Power. Exposure can compel action, even if through shaming those who should have NOT acted immorally, ethically or legally.

Mayor Where art thou? Update on Ritz. Bortz Blitz. Grimes Bar shooting.
2 women and 3 young men shot to death in Colerain Township. Mayor where art thou?
Early on, CAJD wasn't in favor of Ritz nightclub closing (club where fatal shooting of Dexter Burroughs occured in May). However, after giving it much thought--what kind of message would be sent to the young people in our communtiy if someone can get murdered on the dance floor at a club, and the club reopens, business as usual, the following week. It's clear the Ritz's owner made the right decision, in shutting down the night club for a few months.
Is Chris Bortz God? The Enquirer thinks so. Tried to sway public opinion. What's new? Read Sunday's editorial 6-6. For God's sake read it online for free!
Grimes bar shooter gets 62 years to life (he shot nine people, a few of them died), and he does not get Deters death penalty. Oh, forgot. He shot black people.

Wendall Young has got a pair. Tim Burke...uh, not so much
(It's been a long day and I don't have the energy or desire to proof this post--good night and good riddance. Better post next time blog readers)
Wendall Young has got a pair. Tim Burke...uh, not so much
This is going to be a really lazy and shitty post. CAJD is tired to the bones.
CAJD is very glad that Wendall Young is the latest council member. CAJD attended a candidates forum at Xavier. All of the wanna be candidates and current council member candidates were in attendance (don't think anyone was absence).
Two candiates at that forum stood out and gave a strong indication that they wouldn't play fiddle with the status quo. The candidates were Wendall Young and Kevin Flynn. Some other candidates were good, but Young and Flynn stood out.
The wanna bes and current council members were asked if they supported the Tea Klux Klan (what Lincoln Ware calls the Tea partiers). Most of the wanna bes and current council members gave fluffy-insincere answers. But Wendall made it quite clear that he did not support that group or it's antics (not that all tea partiers are tea klux klans). He said something like "I' m a strong black man....." It was damn awesome.
Kinda feeled bummed that Bernadette Watson didn't make it in. Some might see her as a candidate that rolls with the stautus quo. But the little that I know about her, she's seem like she would have been a solid choice.
Tim Burke has committed a crime against humanity and black people in Cincinnati. Most blacks that I know can't stand his ass. And for good reason. Why did he cut a deal not to run anyone against the black people's persecutor? Deters.
It's a pity that he beat the Tolliver guy and held on to his seat. The Dems need new blood.

Deters-- Why CAJD will never forget!
(Love the beloved)
***PIX REMOVED***
Deters made a back door deal, then left out the front door. CAJD's will fight for beloved (none of your business) until they bury me-us-this blog. 20 vs. 12.
Deters slept with hooker(s) and has never been brought to justice (allegedly). Yes, I believe all that break the law should be brought to justice, but no one deserves to be the victim of injustice. 20 vs 12.
Yes, (none of your business) must and will continue to pay his debt to society. 20 vs. 12. Who will determine Deters sentence?

Have a wonderful Memorial Day!
Greetings Blog Readers--
CAJD will be back with new posts next week. And as always our post will keep it "real".
In the mean time don't do anything this holiday weekend that Joe Deters wouldn't do. That means you're free to do any fking thing you like. In seriousness, be safe.

Part time prosecutor rears his ugly head to make deal in Lockland teens arrest case
CAJD's understands Deters making the tough decision to recommend that the charges against the Lockland teens be reduced. It seems clear that if all the teens involved in the illegal prank were persons of color, Deters would NOT have agreed to reduce the charges. And if Deters does not stick to his back door deal—don’t be surprised blog readers because it wouldn’t be the first time. It’s plausible that Deters made the back door deal because when the details of his arrest for soliciting a hooker in a car in Cleveland becomes public, Deters is going to want the public to offer up compassion. Who else finds it ironic that the part time prosecutor only rears his prosecutorial head on headline cases. Then, possibly, he sneaks back with tail between legs to the cushy law offices of Chesley or Heekin & Heekin for a little R&R. Or in Heekin’s case a little coke??????
*******************************************************************************
WTF can Joe Deters say regarding this issue? Let me guess. Because there are black and white students involved Deters can't play the race card. Or can he? He'll have sympathy for the whites, persecution for the blacks. If you are a regular reader of this blog you cannot deny that I believe in punishment across the board. However, I do not believe in favortism. It appears Deters favors white people. CAJD's believes in fair and equal treatment and punishment for all people.
Deters after your press conference, turn to black radio, Lincoln Ware 1230 am the Buzz. Listen to what the black community thinks about double standard prosecution.

Sunday’s shooting at Club Ritz - Who should the black community blame?
Sunday’s shooting at Club Ritz - Who should the black community blame?
On Sunday May 16, 2010, a young black man, Dexter Burroughs was shot dead on the nightclub’s dance floor. The community is outraged and that's a good thing because I sometimes wonder if some of us have become desensitized to a young, black man's murder. “Hey did you hear that a young black man got shot and killed? “Yeah and it’s supposed to be sunny tomorrow.” Let's never have that casual conversation.
Who should we blame? I understand misplaced anger. When a tragedy happens in our family or in the community, some of us need someone or something to blame. Sometimes the blame is warranted or misplaced. Sometimes both.
Club Ritz. The club owner has a responsibility to the club goers and to the community to make sure everything is operating on the "up". I don't have to explain what this means. C'mon people you know what this means. This is not an accusation against the business but a charge to the business owner to cross all "moral" and "legal" T's, and dot the I's. And NO I don't think the Ritz should close
The Parents. We are charged as parents to parent. We must parent our offspring. I know that it's possible to parent and still have a loved one end up in prison, or worst the morgue. However, we cannot condone behavior from our young people that is immoral or illegal. This is not an accusation against the Burrough's family. CAJD's extends it's condolences to the family.
Finally, and you didn't think I would end without asking where is the outrage from the persecutor to find the shooter? Oh the person was black that was shot. No outrage from Deters.

Joe "Death Penalty" Deters No Good for the black community
Joe "Death Penalty" Deters
Can you believe that Ohio, with Hamilton County leading the way, is on the heels of Texas in its number of executions?
Thanks Joe Deters.

Tim Burke - Lincoln Ware - Joe Deters: Who can Cincinnati's Black community really trust?
Tim Burke - Lincoln Ware - Joe Deters: Who can Cincinnati's Black community really trust?
Who will ever forget that a couple of elections back Tim Burke, the Chair of the Democratic Party, cut a deal with the republicans not to run democratic candidates against currently elected republican judges, the sheriff, and the county prosecutor- JOE DETERS. The black community, not just FBK's beloved son, continues to suffer from Deters double standard style of prosecution: over-prosecution, high bonds, and death sentences for blacks AND under-prosecution, or no prosecution for others. It appears Tim Burke would rather see a candidate from another party in office, than a candidate that he did not endorse.
When I voted in the May 4th, 2010 primary - I voted with the Democratic ticket. There were some candidates on the ticket that I did NOT vote for. When I vote in November I will do so on a case by case basis. I will not vote the Dem ticket across the board. Others should vote on a case by cases basis as well.
Now comes the case of Lincoln Ware. Lincoln Ware has been a good friend to Cincinnati's Black community. More often than not. I, for one, appreciate how he allowed me on his radio and TV show to share my book, with his audience. After Lincoln allowed me to come on his show, the black people's persecutor, swore that he'd l never again go on Lincoln's show again.
Now comes a case of the Hamilton County Democratic party leaving a particular candidate off the ballot. Lincoln Ware deserves some credit (most credit should go to the ones who posted on facebook, texted, and volunteered) for making the community aware of this fact. When a certain blogger called a certain radio host and requested that he let a certain candidate on his show, he excitedly agreed.
Go Lincoln!

Deters once again displays his HATE for the black community
Read his own words.
Would he be so cold hearted if a witness feared for their life and they live in a different community?
Is anybody really surprised?

A Perfect Man!
A Perfect Man.
OK the reality is there is no such person. There are plenty of imperfect people and plenty of people who come close to being perfect—but no such thing as a perfect person.
The sad reality is that I spend a lot of time on this blog being critical of Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters. Occasionally, my posts are mean-spirited, yet true. I justify my post as being cheap therapy. Traditional therapy didn’t work for me.
Two years and 280 post later. I am mostly happy with the information that I have brought forth to the community. All of the post have not been about Joe Deters. The post about Deters have been to expose his hate crimes against the community. As my beloved "Grandmabea" would say, "two wrongs (person commits a crime), don’t make a right (person is over prosecuted, sentenced, not given proper representation)."
Back to the original purpose of this post which is to give praise to an awesome person. Attorney David Singleton (OJPC). I admire Singleton because he works tirelessly to reform the criminal justice system. He’s not pro criminal. He’s pro solution. If a person steals a piece of bread from Kroger and store security observes them, attempts to stop them, and the person fights with clerk, and injures clerk--that’s robbery. The said person is then charged and convicted, and goes to prison for say five years. They get out, they’ve paid their debt to society, but society won’t accept that payment. That’s wrong. In not allowing that person to become a productive citizens (get a job, take care of family, etc), everyone suffers.
So Singleton works for this person—and that makes Singleton close to perfect.
(running out of time end this post for now—more follow-up later.)

Strutz conviction won't go on Deters semen stained resume
update: still working on hamilton county commssioner post (public defenders fund-update soon)
RE- POST
Will Death Penalty Deters go “soft” on accused “saw” killer Strutz?
Who will ever forget how the most dangerous part-time prosecutor, full-time persecutor, in the history of Hamilton County crawled with tail between legs, from the cushy law office of Stan Chesley, from the moistness of the hooker in Cleveland’s labia minora to publicly lynch Anthony Kirkland. Kirkland, a mentally ill black man, was convicted of several heinous murders for which he should never see the light of day. On paper, Deters’ cum stained national resume might indicate a win for the prosecution of Kirkland. However, many of us locals that have fallen victim to a public lynching by Deters, despise his grandstanding and see Kirkland’s conviction as no more than a hate crime.
Why is it that Deters can always create a whacked excuse to explain why he dishes out a double-standard prosecution for black folks?
Deters freely gives out-- Get Out Of Jail Free Cards to wealthy and well-connected white people.
Deters gave Jodi Edwards an upper middle-class white female a GOOJFC after she left her baby in a sweltering hot van. The baby, Jenna Edwards, baked to death. Deters lied when he was later interviewed on 1230 am WDBZ (AKA Cincinnati’s black radio). He claimed that he could not find anything in the law that warrants him charging Edwards for child endangerment and neglect. There was no mention of charging her with murder. Not charging Edwards, disturbed many in the community because when coroner Dr. O’Dell, stuck a thermometer up baby Jenna’s butt, it soared well past 100 degrees. Frustrated callers, expressed their outrage to Deters for not charging Edwards.
The Hamilton County just-us center groans from the weight of black mothers who have left their child unattended in a vehicle. The child is usually not harmed, yet these mothers are arrested and immediately jailed.

Here’s what Kristan Strutz’s grieving family was told regarding why John Strutz’ could not be charged with the death penalty after he chopped up her body, than piece portioned it out in garbage bags, while their children were at home.
“...due to certain circumstances, he can't face the death penalty.”

Hamilton County uses public defender’s money to help Cincinnati Zoo (UPDATE)
This blog post is dedicated to Derrick Jamison, who spent 20 years on "Deters" Death row for a crime that he did not commit.
I attended the HC Commissioner's meeting today. I appreciate the Commissioners (Pepper, Portune, and Hartmann) taking the time to address the issue after I spoke. They provided me with additional facts about the funds that I wasn't aware of. In the next couple of days I will update this post with additional facts.
Again, I thank the Commissioners for addressing my questions.
Why did Hamilton County Commissioners put money allocated to indigent defense into general coffers to help other offices?
The mission of the Hamilton County Public Defender's Office according to their website:
To defend the life and liberty of our clients and to protect their statutory and constitutional rights, by providing zealous, effective, and ethical representation.
That's a powerful statement especially when one considers that if you are charged and subsequently convicted of a crime every aspect of your life is affected: your freedom, your ability to get a job and housing. It affects if you go to jail or prison, and for how long.
The reality is this: blacks are more likely to be arrested, less likely to be released on bail, less likely to see members of their own race in the courtroom and jury box and more likely to be the target of the death penalty. They are more likely to have need for a public defender. Repeat, more likely to have a need for a public defender.
Some people believe that court ordered attorneys or public defenders as they are best known, suck. Do they suck for the sake of sucking, or do they suck because they don't have proper resources to adequately represent their clients? Recent data supoorts the latter.
The Hamilton County Commissioners office put money sent from the state to help with indigent defense into a general fund to help all offices. This makes one wonder if the census money will ever reach the black community. Maybe one has nothing to do with the other, but certainly it's the reason that black folks are always leery to trust the status quo.
To the black community - when people in our community are locked up, overcharged, over prosecuted, over sentenced, less likely to have mitigating circumstances taken into consideration. less likely to be given alternative sentences, not provided with proper representation-- Such factors affects our ENTIRE community. Our communities look like shit. To quote from a recent article, "There is no longer a need for dire predictions, hand-wringing, or apprehension about losing a generation of black boys. It's too late, In education, employment, economics, incarceration..."
To blacks and other communities that don't want your tax dollars going to help the accused (and not yet convicted) look at it this way, you can choose a fence or an ambulance (read the parable) pay for it on the front end or back end.
We urge the community to attend the Hamilton County Commissioner's meeting this Wednesday at 9:30 am Location 138 East Court St. room 603. Be prepared to express your concerns that the HCPD office does not have funds to operate the office according to constitutional standards.
Also, make phone calls to your local Congress people, to the current commissioner, and the ones running for office. Ask them why money sent from the state to be allocated to indigent defense, has gone elsewhere?
Please make your voice be heard.

Kirkland, a mentally ill black man, was convicted of several heinous murders for which he should never see the light of day. Deters’ semen stained national resume might indicate a win for the prosecution of Kirkland. However, many of us locals that have fallen victim to a public lynching by Deters, despise his grandstanding and see Kirkland’s conviction as no more than a hate crime. It seems Deters hates black men.

“One such way is through Local Hiring, yet county leadership point to a memo from Prosecutor Joe Deters office, which argues that counties may not require participation of local workers on public works projects.”

Is Deters guilty of Excuse-Abuse in accused Strutz’ case
Here’s what Kristan Strutz’s grieving family was told regarding why John Strutz’ could not be charged with the death penalty after he chopped up her body, than piece portioned it out in garbage bags, while their children were at home.
“...due to certain circumstances, he can't face the death penalty.”
